The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, issues an Import Export Code (IEC) or Import Export License, which is a ten-digit alphanumeric code assigned and the same as your PAN No. No individual or organization is permitted to export or import any content, products, or services without first obtaining an Import Export Code (IEC) Number. The Import Export Code is good for life and applies to all of the importer's and exporter's branches or factories. IEC is a PAN-based registration, therefore a single PAN number would be used to obtain an IEC code online. In case there are more than one IECs allotted to any entity the same may be surrendered to the Regional Office for cancellation. An application shall be filed online in the specified form along with the documents required to the Regional Authority of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in the region where the office of the company is registered.
