Import Export Code

 Import and Export code is a 10-digit unique number issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade to a business entity for import and export in India. The Import and Export Code helps businesses grow in the global market. To clear customs, the trader must ensure that the importing entity has IE code and GST registration before initiating the import of goods. An Importer -Exporter Code is a key business identification number which mandatory for export from India or Import to India. No export or import shall be made by any person without obtaining an IEC unless specifically exempted. Typically, the procedure for import and export activities involves ensuring licensing and compliance before the shipping of goods, arranging for transport and warehousing after the unloading of goods, and getting customs clearance as well as paying taxes before the release of goods.
